Everything seems to start normal with powering up and the light for the hard drive, but screen stays black. Had the video card replaced a year or two ago, and in the past it does this if it's stuck in some type of sleep or energy saving mode. It's on a Toshiba A305-S6898 Harman/Kardon. Running Vista for an OSWas wondering if anyone had any tips of how to get it going if it's something simple like a sleep/energy saving mode? Thanks! Posted by Glad I Left on Aug. 17 2013,9:09 am
I had this happen a ton on some Thinkpads I used in the past.If you connect to a monitor or projector does the display work? Posted by irisheyes on Aug. 17 2013,3:23 pm
Thanks, that did it! I found the port for a different monitor, hooked it up and the other monitor started showing the Toshiba opening for a couple minutes, but then the Laptop monitor turned on again.Must've been some weird sleep thing again. Thanks again, G.I.L.! Posted by Glad I Left on Aug. 17 2013,10:46 pm

It is possible you hit the function key and F5 accidently.

Someone else I talked to mentioned that, I don't think those keys would've been hit, even by accident.I just backed up my hard drive and documents, but I might just buy a new one soon and if it happens again I'll find an external to hook it up to. |
